Current Research Interests: Jonathan Espinoza is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. His research explores the rural LGBTQ+ identity and public policy creation/implementation in historically conservative areas. Having been born and raised in rural Texas, Jonathan hopes to utilize his first-hand experiences to inform his research as he hopes to answer questions related to queer identity suppression, policy communication and rural queer migration. In a perfect world, he would also like to explore how queer identity suppression in rural areas impacts how one chooses to vote in local, state and national elections.
