Current research interests: I am a Ph.D. candidate in organizational communication and technology, specializing in algorithmic organizing and crisis/risk communication. My research examines how workers make sense of fairness when AI-driven systems—such as those used by Uber or DoorDash—make decisions about pay, tasks, and performance, and how disaster-related messaging can more effectively support vulnerable communities. My NSF-funded dissertation investigates algorithmic decision-making and communication in gig work contexts. Beyond this, my research explores the visibility and fairness of algorithmic decisions, public discourse on AI use in education and healthcare, and message effectiveness in disaster scenarios. My work has been published in Communication Reports, International Journal of Strategic Communication, and Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking. I employ interviews, surveys, experiments, and computational methods in my research with the goal to promote ethical AI and more impactful public communication.
