B.A. Degree: Communication, University of Oklahoma
M.A. Degree: Communication, Baylor University
Current Research Interests: As a former Division I collegiate athlete, I am inspired by group and team processes and see sport as a fascinating context for organizational communication scholarship. I am especially passionate about athlete mental health. In the realm of elite athletics, I feel that the mindset, communication, and relationships involved for athletes offer unique areas of inquiry which necessitate further examination from communication theory. My Master’s thesis, where I studied athletic skill mental blocks (also known as ‘the yips’) via a sensemaking framework in interviews with elite athletes and coaches, is one example of the types of topics I’m interested in. Some current interests of mine include Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL), conference realignment, and high reliability organizations.
