Meet Saúl Palomo

What do you currently do at UT?
-"I guess you can say I'm the face of the department, since I'm the first one you see when you walk into our office! Really, I'm the Administrative Associate for the Department, and I handle pretty much anything and everything that's needed by the Faculty, Staff, or Students."

Where are you from?
-"I'm BORN & RAISED right in here in Austin, TX! Some say a unicorn, but I say a Longhorn since even before working at UT, I bled Burnt Orange."

How and when did you decide to work in Communication?
-"I kind of just fell into it. I was tired of working in the Hospitality business of running for and parking cars in the heat, and heard about a position opening, so applied. A little bit of luck, and a lot a bit of who you know."

What is a fun fact about you that most people here don't know?
-"A few things; I can (usually) solve a Rubik's cube in under a minute, I've ONLY driven a manual (stick-shift) car since I turned 16, and I've never broken a bone."

Where is your favorite place in Austin?
-"Any place that has cold A/C and even colder drinks! Preferably with a group of friends."

What movie genre is your favorite?
-"I'd say a good Comedy or Suspense, not Horror, movie is my go to. My Favorite director is Christopher Nolan, so anything by him I'll watch, even multiple times."

If you could go back in time, what's one piece of advice you would give to yourself?
-"Put your head down and focus on what needs to be done. Why push off something years later, when it could have been done by now?"

Where would you love to travel to next?
-"I've only been out of the Country once, and that was to London on a solo trip. So I'd love to go somewhere with an amazing beach and scenery with a few friends, and just relax with a drink in my hand."
