CMS Graduate Program Recruiting Event
The Communication Studies Graduate Program hosted recruitment event on Monday, March 3rd for its prospective graduate students. Fourteen students from across the U.S. traveled to Austin to participate. Students learned more about the program through several panels and a program overview from Dr. René Dailey.
Students were welcomed to UT and then met with faculty in each program area. Several of the current graduate students hosted a panel on graduate student experiences. Students on the panel included Soumya Khedkar, Paden Moore, Emaly Aguilar, Emily Felt, Monica Williams, Xiaotong Liu and Victoria Salinas.
Later that day, the visiting students were able to observe three research presentations from our doctoral students – Yohanna Tesfai, Nathaniel Repay, and Nicole Butterbaugh. Moody Centers and Institutes tours were given by students Rebecca Baumler, Leonard Memon and Jovana Andelkovic. The event concluded at Ropollo’s pizza with new admits getting to chat with more faculty and staff.
CMS Graduate Advisor, René Dailey, noted that “It was great to meet so many students in-person and for them to be able to see our program in action.” And, CMS Graduate Coordinator, Jenn Porras, said, “I was happy to see our students interact with the new admits. They put them at ease and gave each of them valuable information on their experience with our program.” The department looks forward to many of these students joining the program in the Fall.
