Current Research Interests: Eleni Mercer is a Communication Rhetoric scholar at the University of Texas at Austin whose work sits at the intersection of lived Transgender realities and rhetorical studies. He observes the ways in which legislative discourse shapes our understanding of Transness. His research also explores Queer and Trans forms of resistance, but more specifically the political (im)possibilities of embracing deviance, transgressive activism, and embodied experience.
