CMS Graduate Program Recruiting Event
The Communication Studies Graduate Program hosted a recruitment event on March 4th for its prospective graduate students. Twenty students from across the U.S. traveled to Austin to participate.
Students learned more about the program through several panels and events. Current grad students hosted a panel on graduate student experiences and living in Austin. Prospective students met with faculty and also visited various centers within the College (Center for Sports Communication and Media, Technology and Information Policy Institute, Center for Health Communication, and Center for Media Engagement). While enjoying great Austin weather, students also got to talk more with our current graduate students, faculty, and staff at a reception on the patio of Moody’s Kitchen and Bar. Students were also invited to attend a graduate seminar occurring that evening.
CMS Graduate Advisor, René Dailey, was excited to meet the prospective students in-person and for them to see our program in action. CMS Graduate Coordinator, Jenn Porras, added that the students came prepared with great questions and enthusiasm about our program.
The department looks forward to many of these students joining the program in the Fall. We thank our staff for all their help with the day and our event planning intern Allie Kam for her help in planning the event.
