Current research interests: I am broadly interested in rhetoric and resistance in late capitalism. I study many types of texts, but most of my research engages discourses of race, criminality, and/or religion. I also follow and participate in current debates surrounding "materialism" in our field.
Outside hobbies & interests: I am an activist involved in a number of local and national struggles - especially the fight to end the death penalty. Additionally, I am proud to coach the nationally-ranked UT Speech Team, which includes one-on-one sessions with my talented students and frequent weekend trips to competitions across Texas and throughout the country. I am also very passionate about film and music.
What you think makes UT or Austin unique, cool, or "weird": I require two things to survive: good food and a steady supply of coffee. Austin has a staggering wealth of both.
