Current Research Interests: I'm interested in membership, time and memory in groups and organizations. I am currently exploring these issues in the context of a prison and have particular interest in the complex relationships across membership level (inmates, correctional officers, administration etc). I am also working on a project that explores other deviant groups (e.g., hate groups) to explore the persuasive messages they use to promote membership.
Outside Interests: Cooking and baking (and watching the food network of course!), skiing (both water and snow), watching Badger & Packer Football! (yes, I like UT football too), spending time at coffee shops, and walking around Austin with my husband (both downtown and on the lake).
What Makes Austin Weird etc.: I'm from Wisconsin so I think it's pretty crazy that you can wear flip flops all year long!! Also, the word "Barbeque" down here refers to the actual process of cooking food (not slathering meat of any kind with BBQ sauce like it does up north!)
