Current Research Interests: My interests revolve around the rhetoric of popular culture and popular music. My previous work has examined the rhetorical dimensions of witch-hunting as a persecutory form, and dominant narratives in touristic settings. I am increasingly interested in the ways in which race and power are negotiated in American blues music.
Outside hobbies & interests: I am a long-time fan of the blues and college radio broadcasting. Since 2005 I have hosted "Blues At Sunrise" on KVRX UT's student-run radio station. I write for Living Blues magazine, a national blues publication, and regularly contribute music reviews and articles on the Austin blues scene to the Daily Texan and Austin Sound. I also enjoy gardening, fishing, and soul food.
What makes Austin unique: The wonderful restaurants, culture and heritage on Austin's East Side.
