Admissions checklist

The following items are required by the Communication Studies Department for application to both our Master’s and Doctoral programs. Materials must be submitted by the deadline of December 15 to ensure review by faculty. Please see Admission Requirements page for a more full explanation of each item.

Send to the Department of Communication Studies:

1. A statement of purpose

2. Brief essay of research questions

3. Three letters of recommendation

4. A sample of writing

5. A photocopy of all four year institution transcripts

6. A photocopy GRE and TOEFL (or IELTS) scores

To the University of Texas at Austin Graduate and International Admissions Center (GIAC):

1. Complete UT application on-line

2. Send official transcripts from all four year institutions to GIAC (address)

3. Have ETS send GRE and TOEFL (or IELTS) scores to GIAC

4. Pay application fee to GIAC preferably on-line
