Dr. Natalie "Talia" Jomini Stroud (Ph.D., Annenberg School for Communication, University of Pennsylvania, 2006) is an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies and Assistant Director of the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Participation. Her research focuses on the media's role in shaping people's political attitudes and behaviors. Utilizing quantitative approaches, she is currently investigating people's political information seeking behavior and the effects of people's media consumption patterns. She is particularly interested in understanding partisan selective exposure, people’s use of media outlets that match their political predispositions. Her research on this topic has received the K. Kyoon Hur Award from the International Communication Association, the Best Dissertation Award from the Political Psychology Section of the American Political Science Association, and the Outstanding Dissertation Award from the Political Communication Division of the National Communication Association. Prior to joining the faculty, she was a member of the National Annenberg Election Survey team at the Annenberg Public Policy Center. Her work has appeared in Public Opinion Quarterly, Political Communication, the International Journal of Public Opinion Research, and the Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media. She teaches courses in public opinion, media effects and politics, and research methods.
