2008 Edition

We invite you to join us for the 15th year of the UT National Institute in Forensics. Whether you are a novice, experienced competitor, or returning national champion, UT's summer program offers a curriculum that will help to make you a better speaker, performer, or debater. UTNIF is the largest comprehensive institute in the country, offering programs in Cross-Examination Debate, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, and Individual Events. Our institute students have gone on to win state and national championships at almost every level, from Texas UIL 1A-5A and TFA to NFL and NCFL.

Our Philosophy:

While there are many great institutes in Texas and around the nation, we believe that the UT National Institute in Forensics offers a collection of faculty and features no other workshop can provide, and that when you compare our price, faculty, and benefits to the offerings of other institutes, you will find that ours is the best education-per-dollar value in the country. As in the past, in addition to our regular sessions, we offer an Individual Events Extended Tutorial dedicated with loving memory to institute co-founder and former president of the NFL, L. D. Naeglin. As you decide on which institute is best for you, remember the following:

• Students like our product. Almost unanimously, student evaluations we receive indicate participants would recommend the UTNIF to other students. Out of the students who had previously attended other camps, every one of them commented that the UTNIF was a superior learning experience. On average, nearly 40% of our students return the following summer—the other 60% tend to be graduating seniors.

• The University of Texas produces winners in all areas of forensics, from high school to college. We are currently enjoying our sixteenth consecutive year as the American Forensic Association National Debate Tournament--National Individual Events Tournament Overall National Champion.

• The UTNIF is the only institute sanctioned by the University of Texas at Austin. All after-expense proceeds go directly to forensic activity, including student travel and scholarships.

• We offer a superior staff. Staff members represent national and state championship coaches and competitors at every level of high school and collegiate competition, including CFL, NFL, UIL, TFA, AFA, and NFA.

• We connect students with colleges. Whether a student has an interest in attending the University of Texas, or is looking to make connections with collegiate coaches from around the country, our students are immersed in the college experience. Last year, our staff included representatives of each of the top 8 collegiate programs of the American Forensic Association. Many of our students receive the contacts and offers of forensic scholarships from those same representatives.

Each student/coach enrolled in the Individual Events workshop will be given individual attention by highly acclaimed coaches from across the country, as well as national champions and national finalists in each of the competitive speech areas.
